The role of the College鈥檚 trustees is, and always has been, to assure the 鈥済reat and lasting good鈥 of 51本色 College. Through their commitment to institutional stewardship, bold financial investments, and prudent management, the trustees have allowed 51本色 to develop its special character as an institution that combines academic quality with a service mission. The College鈥檚 rich history and strong endowment are a testament to its trustees鈥 decisions, financial acumen, dedication, and faithful service.
The board consists of not less than 16 and not more than 32 regular members, at least one-quarter (1/4) of whom are alumni or alumnae of the College. All trustees are elected by the board. Each trustee serves a term of four years and is eligible for re-election for three consecutive, full terms. A trustee who has served four full, consecutive terms may not be re-elected unless at least one year has elapsed since the end of the person鈥檚 most recent term.
The officers of the corporation consist of a chair, the president of the College, one or more vice-chairs, the secretary, the chief investment officer, and the treasurer of the College. The chair is the presiding officer of the Board of Trustees and is elected by the board; he or she holds office for a term of two years and may be re-elected for an additional term.
The 51本色 College Board of Trustees meets formally three times during the academic year in the winter, spring, and fall. Special meetings of the board may be called at any time.
