  • Go to bed early enough that you can sleep until you feel refreshed. This is typically for 5–10 hours.
  • Go outside for at least 10 minutes per day; the closer you can get to natural settings the better.
  • Meditate for 10 minutes a day.
  • Find joyful movement in whatever capacity you are able every day. If possible, try for 25 minutes and do strength work two or more days per week. This might include walking, stretching, hiking, running, gardening, swimming, yoga, dancing, etc.
  • Find at least one local or virtual organization that you value, and engage with it on a regular basis.
  • Attend events that are different from your cultural norm.
  • Attend at least one meeting per year with the Center for Careers, Life, and Service.
  • Eat a colorful plate that is mostly plant-based. Reduce consumption of sweetened beverages. Enjoy foods you find fun or nostalgic.
  • Practice mindful eating.
  • Create visual, performance, or literary art.
  • Search for experiences of awe… even in what seems mundane.
  • Meet with a fiduciary financial advisor to prepare a long-term budget.

Meeting Your Basic Needs

Contact the Chaplain’s Office if you have concerns about your food security or need help with accessing toiletries, sheets, cooking kits, and other personal items. It is very important that you can protect yourself when the weather is extreme. There’s a small collection of winter wear items available in the student pantry at the CRSSJ, as well.

You can also meet needs through the Emergency Fund
