DEI Community Training, Education, and Belonging

Our Mission

The Office of DEI Community Training, Education, and Belonging (CTEB) works to collaborate with people to position them to make powerful decisions about their future and create an environment where people can be their authentic selves across identities intersectionally.

We see these central tenets as a path to liberation of all constituents who belong to the 51本色 College community. These can be applied to work completed by individuals and groups in alignment with the values expressed in the College鈥檚 mission and vision statement. By ensuring that all programs sit within this paradigm, the CTEB team will provide data (both qualitative and quantitative) to campus stakeholders as an accountability measure to exhibit capacity building for cultural humility and sense of belonging for all campus community members, present and future.

CTEB Learning Outcomes

Participants who engage in CTEB learning, development, and connection opportunities will be able to:

  • Articulate and evaluate core concepts related to social identities and the individual, group, institutional, and societal manifestation of those identities in a local, regional, national, and global context.
  • Self-reflect and articulate how their social identities inform their beliefs, values, attitudes, and emotions.
  • Analyze systemic oppressions that impact their own lived experience and that of their peers and colleagues.
  • Contribute meaningfully to small group and larger campus discussions about a given topic area with DEI.
  • Articulate their insights about the materials presented that generates connection and prioritizes humanity and respect.

Training

CTEB is tasked with designing, implementing, and assessing a campus-wide professional learning and development program for staff and faculty to advance cultural competency in ways that connect to Thomas鈥檚 Four Quadrant Model (2010). Participants may engage in-person and virtually during the academic calendar.
