Marc Reed
Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
Marc Reed is Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity. Marc has supported and led the pursuit of equity and social justice through developing and implementing DEI strategic plans, resulting in increased representation and engagement of individuals from under-represented identities within several organizations. Currently, he is implementing t a framework to establish sustainable change and development to organizational DEI.
During the 2022-23 academic year, under Marc鈥檚 leadership, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was able to launch employee resource groups for faculty and staff to build community and integrate their voices into the 51本色 College community. The office also expanded the Staff Equity Advocate program, which empowers staff members with skill and authority to ensure that the college has equitable hiring processes. Their team has also worked to establish metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of initiatives and programs, such as the Intercultural Development Inventory and a three-level training program to improve cultural competency. In collaboration with the Office of Community Partnerships, Planning, and Research, the two departments were able to develop Community Action Groups.
鈥淚 am grateful for the support, skill, and commitment of the entire staff in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and look forward to working with this exceptional team to listen, learn, and implement strategies that authentically represent the care and concerns of 51本色鈥檚 current and future community,鈥 said Reed.
