We Are Family Weekend 2024

Sept. 20–21, 2024

We Are Family Weekend will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, and Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024. Registration is required if you plan to attend the We Are Family Weekend Lunch on Saturday. We look forward to meeting you! 

Schedule of Events

7 a.m.–6 p.m. We are Family Weekend Welcome & Information Table, Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center, First Floor Lobby

8 a.m.–3:50 p.m. Class Visits, Various locations

Families are invited to attend a select list of classes. Passes are required. You may pick up passes from the We Are Family Weekend Welcome and Information table. Space is limited and visitors must arrive early to class to avoid class disruption.

10–11 a.m. Campus Tour, Admissions & Student Financial Services 

1:30–2:30 p.m. 51±¾É« College Parents and Families Leadership Council (Development and Alumni Relations Presentation), Humanities and Social Studies Center (HSSC), Room S1325

Learn more about the 51±¾É« College Parents and Families Leadership Council, its purpose, member responsibilities, and opportunities. Hear from current parent members and consider joining other parents and families in this distinctive partnership with 51±¾É« College.

Reconnect with fellow alumni while the current swimmers and divers prepare for the season ahead

Reconnect with fellow alumni near Rosenbloom Field while the team has walkthroughs in preparations for Saturday's match.

Join Rabbi Sarah Brammer-Shlay and Chaverim for Shabbat Services followed by Shabbat Table with a home cooked dinner at 6:30 p.m. Email Deacon Grayson with questions.

7:30–9 p.m. 51±¾É« Jazz Ensemble Concert, Bucksbaum Arts Center, Room 104, Sebring-Lewis Hall.

8:30–10:30 p.m. Grant O. Observatory Open House

If the sky is clear, the featured objects will be Saturn and the Ring Nebula. If the sky is cloudy, the presentation will involve a tour and computer demonstrations. Please call 641-269-4770 if the weather is questionable. Access to the telescope involves several sets of steps but visitors with mobility restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice. Please contact Family Weekend staff for accommodations.

Join Andy Hamilton ’85 for a walking tour of the College's athletic facilities.

10–11:30 a.m. Science & Social Studies and Humanities Student Research Poster Sessions, Noyce First Floor Elbow

Engage with students as they present their research and summer internships in a scholarly poster session format.

10–11 a.m. Parents and Families Leadership Council Fall Meeting (Invitation Only), HSSC, Room A1231

11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. We are Family Weekend Lunch, Department of Student Affairs and Development and Alumni Relations partnership, grassy area between Parking Lots J and K.  Rain Location: Rosenfield Center, Marketplace Dining and Room 101 

Registered families and guests of students will receive a complimentary meal. Meal tickets for this event must be picked up from the Family Weekend Welcome & Information Table in the Rosenfield Center prior to attending the event. 

11 a.m. Men’s Soccer vs. Nebraska Wesleyan University, Springer Field 

1 p.m. Football Game vs. Beloit College, Rosenbloom Field

5 p.m. Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Dinner (Invitation Only), Golf Course 

7:30 p.m. 51±¾É« Singers and the 51±¾É« Oratorio Society Concert, Bucksbaum, Room 104, Sebring-Lewis Hall. 

9 p.m.  Soccer Alumni Gathering, Jaworski Home
